▄Mirage 2000-5EG
The Mirage 2000-5EG is a variant of the French Mirage 2000 fighter jet that was developed for the Hellenic Air Force. In 1985, Greece signed a contract with France for 40 Mirage 2000 aircraft: 36 single-seat Mirage 2000EGs and 4 two-seat Mirage 2000BGs. The first aircraft were delivered in 1988 and were assigned to the 331st and 332nd squadrons at Tanagra air base. In the early 2000s, the Hellenic Air Force upgraded part of its fleet to the 2000-5 Mk.2 standard and ordered an additional 15 aircraft, increasing the size of the Greek Mirage 2000 fleet to 55. The most advanced variant is the Mirage 2000-5EG, which is equipped with an RDY-2 radar, modern avionics, and MICA air-to-air missiles. The Hellenic Air Force has begun retiring its Mirage 2000-5EGs and replacing them with Rafale EGs.
The Greek Mirage 2000-5EG was introduced in Update 2.59 "Sky Odyssey", as part of the Israeli aviation research tree. This variant of the Mirage is functionally identical to the Mirage 2000-5F in the French aviation tree. The aircraft has excellent maneuverability thanks to its delta wing, and its powerful engine provides good speed. It is also well-equipped for air combat, carrying R550 Magic 2 missiles for close-range engagements and MICA-EM missiles for medium-range combat. However, its ground-attack capabilities are limited, as it can only engage ground targets with anti-radiation missiles, and it loses energy rapidly during sustained turns.
