Description

As part of the composition of the ZBD04 and 04A's turret system, ZPL04 (ZPL04式100毫米滑膛炮) is the licensed variant of 100 mm 2A70 from the introduction of 2K23 turret systems alongside with its 30 mm autocannon; thanks to the domestic improvements on FCS and autoloader, players can enjoy a more reliable gun system while having sufficient protection to survive non-fatal blows more often.

Comparison with analogues

2A70 - its Russian cousin, shares mostly identical performance but having access to more advanced ATGM; rate of fire varied vastly by autoloader depending to vehicle.

Usage in battles

The overall tactics and specifications of ZPL04 is mostly identical to 2A70; but this time with consistent 4 second reload for any ammunition. This also means much better flexibility than BMP-3 without having to stop for half-a-minute to reload missiles for MBTs, although engaging MBTs up front is asking for quick demise, the upgraded protection in some cases can save the turret crews and the more advanced FCS also ensures quick acquisition of enemy targets. Leave the HEFS for light vehicles or other fellow IFVs unless all 8 missiles has depleted, then aim for MBT's road wheels or optics for maximum possibility to take down enemies.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Revised autoloader ensures high rate of fire (4 seconds per shot for any ammunition type)
  • Slightly more protected turret systems than BMP series
  • Access to tube-launched ATGM and better FCS

Cons:

  • Rather low velocity when firing HEFS, requires LRF for long-range engagement
  • Lacks more advanced tandem ATGM for high value targets

History

Examine the history of the creation and combat usage of the weapon in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the weapon and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Weapon-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />.

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
