Description
The Volna-M (Волна-M; Wave-M), known as SA-N-1B in NATO codename was the navalized version of the land-based S-125 Neva/Pechora (Нева/Печора; NATO codename SA-3 Goa) SAM in Soviet Navy service. It is the second shipborne SAM introduced in game alongside with the Soviet destroyer Bravy as its anti-aircraft systems.

Effective damage
The V-600P for Volna-M system has 42.42 kg TNT equivalent of explosives that can cause shrapnel and explosive damage to its designated target, aircrafts; while the explosive content itself could trigger overpressure damage to smaller vessels, especially attack boats.

Usage in battles
Due to current battle ratings, Bravy the only ship that carries Volna-M system has perhaps the most fearsome anti-aircraft capabilities at its tier (with the only other ship with SAM, USS Douglas, at 4.0). The V-600P SAM has the range any traditional AA guns could never travel at up to 16 km, although it might not sound much in Cold War, but it is extremely lethal for propeller aircrafts at its tier with either "visual" guidance via radio command or radar guidance. In most cases, if any aircrafts triggered its radio fuse within its 40 m radius, they are very likely to receive lethal damages from the shrapnel and makes the aircraft unable to continue its designated missions if not shatter them right away; depending on the guidance method of leading/direct-hit/automatic (default as Alt+L), do make sure to keep the target on the crosshair accordingly. Do remember that due to the early design of the reload system, it takes around a minute to reload both railings, which would give experienced and daring player to deliver fatal blow to the system's carrier ship.
While it is still named as a SAM systems, some players will see the 42 kg TNT equivalent of explosive a good way to take out smaller vessels; the systems can be fired horizontally unlike its (earlier) US counterpart, although the 130 mm SM-2-1 turret or the 45 mm quad-mount turrets are devastating enough, but manual-controlled V-600P can be more dangerous to such vessels.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Extremely long firing range at 16 km
- Rather high explosive content which can sometimes destroy smaller vessels in a single hit
- 16 spare missiles for possible air raids
Cons:
- Large fuse radius, can be a problem when hitting fast-moving aircrafts
- Extremely long reload time for the missile system
History
The S-125 Neva/Pechora (Нева/Печора; NATO codename SA-3 Goa) was a series of SAM developed by the Almaz Central Design Bureau by the 1950s to fill the blind spot of long-range SAMs namely the S-75 Dvina (Двина, NATO codename SA-2 Guideline) against low-flying targets; the systems were first deployed near Moscow by 1961. Meanwhile, the plans for the first shipborne SAM for the VMF also started in parallel with the PVO's version and Bravy was chosen as the testbed for the Volna-M SAM systems with the ZIF-101 turret.
While the Volna-M system has no shot-down records, its land-based cousin has become one of the most successful SAM system in different battlefields; and one of victims for the S-125 was by the 250th Air Defense Missile Brigade of ex-Yugoslavia (now a unit in Serbian Army) with currently the only loss of stealth fighter (F-117A 82-0806, Vega-3) in 1999。
