The Flakpanzer IV (3 cm Flakvierling) "Zerstörer 45" was an experimental German self-propelled anti-aircraft gun. During the latter half of World War II, Germany lost its air superiority, leaving its ground forces vulnerable to air attacks. To improve the protection of its troops, Germany developed and put into production a new self-propelled anti-aircraft gun, the Flakpanzer 38, in 1943. However, it still had insufficient firepower and armor, so germans created a vehicle based on the Panzer IV and supplied the German army with the Wirbelwind and Ostwind. These vehicles also had their problems, though: the quadruple 20 mm guns were too small in caliber and lacked range, while the 37 mm guns lacked fire density. In November 1944, therefore, the Ostbau-Sagan workshop, which had developed other anti-aircraft guns, was asked to create a vehicle with a quadruple mount of 30 mm MK 103 guns. The designers used the Möbelwagen anti-aircraft gun chassis as a foundation, replacing its single 37 mm gun. Two prototypes were built to test the concept. Further development involved installing the guns in the Wirbelwind turret; however, this did not occur due to the end of the war.
The Zerstörer 45 was introduced in Update 2.35 "Alpha Strike". The most interesting feature of the vehicle is its quadruple MK 103 gun mount, which is effective against both aircraft and light enemy armored vehicles. Additionally, it is based on the Panzer IV chassis, which provides good hull armor. However, the anti-aircraft gun lacks a front armor plate and is vulnerable to any machine gun fire and nearby artillery hits. But raising the side shields severely limits the ability to fire at ground targets and low-flying aircraft.
