Comparison with analogues
Give a comparative description of cannons/machine guns that have firepower equal to this weapon.
Usage in battles
Describe the cannon/machine gun in the game - its distinctive features, tactics of usage against notable opponents. Please don't write a "guide" - do not impose a single point of view, but give the reader food for thought.
Pros and cons
- HE shells deal a lot of damage
- The cannon has good ballistics
- The Tracer belt is full of HEF-T shells
- APHE shells deal lot of damage for both Air and Ground targets
- AP-T shells don't generate much shrapnel, needing more time on target for killing ground targets
- Ground Belt contain 3/5 of AP-T shells in comparison to only 1/5 APHE that deals way more damage
- Slow Cyclic rate, same as MK103
The Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service sought a replacement for their Oerlikon FF based Type 99 autocannons during the war. Like the Army Air Service, the Navy's first plan was simply scale up their 20mm cannon to a 30mm design called the Type 2. However, the design was still magazine-fed which limited its utility so they developed the newer Type 5. Unlike the earlier Oerlikon based Type 2, the Type 5 uses a more powerful 30x122mm cartridge instead of the 30x92RB and uses a combined gas and recoil action instead of the Oerlikon API action. The Type 5 was planned to be the standard armament of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service and planned for use on the J7W1 interceptor. However, it arrived too late in the war for the planned use and only saw use on a handful of aircraft such as the J2M5 30mm fighter and the P1Y2-S torpedo bomber.
Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
