Jagdpanzer 4-5: A Fresh Take on a Classic

The concept of self-propelled tank destroyers emerged shortly before the Second World War and, one might think, died with it. Such vehicles made sense when armies needed large numbers of fighting machines in a hurry without sacrificing too much capability. Once the postwar lull arrived and states could prepare for future conflicts more deliberately, the appeal of tank destroyers waned.
