Not long after the end of the Cold War, Sweden adopted a new multirole fighter — the Saab 39 Gripen. Light, affordable, and easy to produce, the Gripen not only became the backbone of the Swedish Air Force but also found success on the international market. Saab’s design philosophy proved to be the right choice: the Gripen emerged as one of the most capable and cost-effective fighters of its generation.
