The NOMADS (NatiOnal Maneuver Air Defence System) is a short-range air defense system developed by Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace (KDA) for the Norwegian Army. In October 2019, the Norwegian Army requested the development of a short-range air defense system mounted on an all-terrain chassis and equipped with an AESA radar and modern missiles. KDA took the radar, rangefinder, cameras, and other electronics from the NASAMS system and mounted them, along with the missiles, on the chassis of the German ACSV G5 tracked vehicle. There are two missiles to choose from: the AIM-9X and the IRIS-T SLS. The vehicle was first unveiled to the public in June 2024, and by July, the Norwegian Army had received four of the six ordered vehicles. Additionally, the Netherlands has expressed interest in the system.
The Norwegian NOMADS was introduced in Update 2.57 "Heavy Cavalry", as part of the Swedish ground research tree. It is a relatively small air defense system equipped with powerful AIM-9X missiles, though their range is somewhat limited. Additionally, the system features bulletproof armor and a 12.7 mm Browning machine gun for self-defense against light vehicles.
