Eldenhet 98 is a Swedish anti-aircraft missile system. Sweden participated in the IRIS-T short- and medium-range missile development program, so these missiles formed the basis of the new air defense system intended to replace the outdated RBS 70. The air defense complex consists of several vehicles and command stations, including the Eldenhet 98 self-propelled air defense missile system. This system is based on the BvS 10 two-link all-terrain vehicle. The front part is occupied by a command module with a radar, and the rear part is occupied by a launcher with IRIS-T SL surface-to-air missiles. The Eldenhet 98 air defense system prototype was first demonstrated to the public in August 2016 at the Malmen air base in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Swedish Air Force. The exact number of Eldenhet 98 air defense systems in service with Sweden remains unknown.
The EldE 98 was introduced in Update 2.47 "Leviathans". It consists of two parts: a radar vehicle and a separate launcher on a trailer. The system uses IRIS-T SL infrared-guided missiles, which ensure the accurate engagement of air targets at significant distances. Disadvantages of the Eldenhet 98 include its weak protection against enemy fire and complete inability to combat ground vehicles.
