− | Seeing as I'm a newer player and a newer editor of the wiki, if you're reading this, you're probably wondering one of either, "who the hell just wrote all this nonsense?", or "Why the hell should I listen to a player who isn't even a veteran (... yet >:D)?", or, if you're one of the rarer cases- "who wrote this, and does he have more advice and stuff like that?"

− | let me answer those, in order.

| |
− | # Me. duh.
| |
− | # Well... I don't really have an answer to that. but I've played my fair share of simulator games, and I'm usually found on either arcade battles or realistic battles with low BR planes (all that I have, really... my highest BR plane as of the 18th of march, 2019, is the Halifax, and the plane that I've used most to date is the Hampden TB mk 1) trying to give people advice (or annoying them by giving them advice that's unnecessary) and sometimes doing spotter work when I've unceremoniously died (directing fighters onto intercepts, calling out aerial targets via chat, etc). However, I know my Air Combat Maneuvering theory (not as much as people who do this for a living) and can know how to use... some of it in-game, I guess? and I earned the nickname 'Eagle Eyes' from some players for a good reason. I've played sim games for a long time, ranging from Cold War-era Games (Strike Fighters 2, it's quite good, really...), World War 1-era Games (First Eagles), World War 2-era games (IL-2 Sturmovik) and a lot of less realistic titles (Storm Raiders, Cold Alley, Ace Combat IV through to the Belkan War). I often play a flight simulator which I can't name due to the possibility the snail gets angry at me (psssst! it starts with Strike and ends with Fighters 2 !) with some of the older aircraft installable via DLCs or mods- a partial list is as follows:
| |
− | ## the P-51
| |
− | ## The Spitfire LF IXc (needs a mod's cockpit to function)
| |
− | ## the IL-28 (again, needs to have a cockpit modded into the game),
| |
− | ## the MiG-15 (needs to have modded cockpit)
| |
− | ## the Vampire (need cockpit mod)
| |
− | ## the Meteor mk.8,
| |
− | ## the Mystere IVA (one of the fighters I dearly pray to the '''ALMIGHTY SNAIL''' for)
| |
− | ## the Ouragan (needs to be modded into the game)
| |
− | ## the Vautour (needs to be modded into the game)
| |
− | ## the La-11 (needs to be modded into the game), among others.
| |
− | ## the F-100s (A, C and D variants).
| |
− | ## The Mig-19 Farmers (needs to have a cockpit modded in, comes with a DLC)
| |
− | # Well, I wrote this- and I do have advice and stuff to give out, ranging from Air Combat Maneuvering advice to general tips in air combat (most of which I'm sure you already know :D). I'm willing to give this advice to whoever wants it, so just stick me a message in War Thunder or grab me on discord (Aussie Mediating Mantis#5520, character AND case sensitive-), and I'll spill the beans on what scant tips I can give you.

Haha! I found out how to make my own user page! I feel like a god!
Hi there- I'm Aussie Mantis, and I'm just an Aussie (an Australian) with a propensity for swearing in matches, praising the sun THE ALMIGHTY SNAIL, trying not to be a doss c*** or a c***, writing long-winded bits and pieces for articles, playing FTL, and trying my damndest not to be noticed in-game (It really helps when you're flying british interceptors and bombers, y'know, because they have this awful habit of catching fire at awkward times...).
Shoutout to Magapanos, Kamizakeda, Artyom_Ka, crazypilot14, *FYICNS, _OG__snow_army_, Dreadweasel, *Seven7Up77, DeWulfe_ and all the other mad c***s I've fought with or against- keep being mad c***s and that'll mean a nicer day for all parties involved.
Now, since you'll want some summary of what I've done in war thunder first, well, here ya go-
I'm a british tech tree player, and I pilot mainly bombers at this stage, although I do play with the spitfires as well. I play mostly in Air Forces Realistic Battles, but occasionally you might find me trundling along in AB with a V-156-B1 and the reserve biplanes. I also frequent Air Arcade Assault, using either a spit Ia, a spit IIb or a Hurricane IV. aaanyway! let's get down to business.
