Description
The ZTZ96 (or Type 96) is a Chinese 3rd generation main battle tank put into service in the late 1990s based on the revised design of the WZ1225 prototype after the halt of Project 122 MBTs, with more modern variants serving even today. They share many similarities with the Soviet T-72 in terms of firepower albeit are an indigenous design in their own right including the powerplants and FCS.
