Air Assault is a cooperative PvE game mode where players defend a base against multiple waves of AI-controlled aircraft. Like Ground Assault, this mode offers players an easy way to earn Silver Lions and Research Points. This guide will explore the mechanics of Air Assault, list the map rotation and enemy AI vehicles, and also provide some general strategies.
Overview
The objective of Air Assault is to defend a base against waves of AI-controlled bombers and ground howitzer units attempting to destroy the friendly base.
Players must prevent hostile aircraft from bombing the friendly base. Successful enemy attacks on the friendly base will reduce the ticket count, which is located at the top of the screen. The match is won once all enemy waves are defeated, or lost when the friendly ticket amount reaches 0.
Note: The howitzer ground units do not directly attack the friendly base, and instead continuously drain friendly tickets until they are destroyed.
Air Assault requires less overall strategy than Ground Assault due to the lack of positioning required. However, it is arguably easier to lose an Air Assault match if a team lacks proper coordination.
Brackets
The types of enemy vehicles that spawn are decided by what bracket the player is in. Brackets are based on a battle rating range, with 6 brackets in total. Enemies in higher brackets are more modern and harder to destroy.
Warning: There is no bracket for vehicles above 13.0 BR, which means that the maximum battle rating allowed is 12.7.
First bracket | Second bracket | Third bracket | Fourth bracket | Fifth bracket |
---|---|---|---|---|
1.0 — 2.3 | 2.7 — 3.7 | 4.0 — 5.0 | 5.3 — 6.3 | 6.7 — 12.7 |
Waves
Different aircraft will appear during each wave. There are 15 waves of enemy aircraft in total. Artillery waves do not have a set spawning order and instead spawn randomly, with the chance of an artillery wave spawning increasing after a wave has passed. The total number of waves remaining is shown at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
Bombers will spawn at an altitude of 3,500 meters and appear ~20 km away from the friendly base. Attackers spawn at 1,500 meters and also spawn ~20 km away.
- B — Bomber
- A — Attacker
- R — Random (either Bomber or Attacker, 50/50 chance)

Map rotation
There are 7 different maps in Air Assault. The map corresponds with the nation of the enemy AI vehicles. Note that the map you queue on is randomized.
Enemy vehicles
Enemy vehicles get progressively more modern (and difficult to destroy) the higher the bracket is.
Rewards
Players receive standard Silver Lion and Research Point rewards with an Arcade battle multiplier. Premium vehicle bonuses, premium time, and vehicle talismans will also increase the amount of RP/SL earned. A free SL or RP booster is also rewarded for a player’s first Air Assault battle of the day.
Warning: Activated SL/RP boosters do not work in Air Assault.
The booster amount is determined by the outcome of the battle, with a higher booster amount (up to 300%) and a universal backup being awarded if the match is won. The type of the booster (RP/SL) is random.
General strategies
The best strategy in Air Assault is proper team coordination. Matches can be won extremely easily if each player contributes their fair share in destroying AI enemies. Below are some more specific tips that will come in useful.
- Do not ignore the ground howitzers! They can drain the friendly ticket amount extremely quickly and end the match preemptively. Always have at least 3 players on hand to combat the howitzers. However, do not completely focus on the howitzers and ignore the aircraft.
- When attacking enemy bombers or attackers that have gun turrets, try to attack from above or below to avoid their fire. Diving on enemies, spraying a burst, and then quickly disengaging is the safest way to combat enemy bombers. Additionally, make the most when attacking frontally since bombers and attackers do not use their forward-facing offensive guns.
- After combating a wave, press
R
to reload your guns to ensure that there is enough ammo left to combat the next wave. - In the top bracket of Air Assault with modern aircraft, Air-to-Ground Missiles (AGMs) like the AGM-65 Maverick and KH-29 can be extremely effective against all enemies due to their high explosive mass.
