The Yakovlev Yak-3T is a single-engine Soviet fighter aircraft created during the Great Patriotic War. The Yak-3T was a modification of the lighter Yak-3, equipped with weapons similar in power to those of the Yak-9T. Instead of the ShVAK cannon and two UBS synchronized machine guns, the Yak-3T had a 37 mm H-37 cannon and two synchronized 20 mm B-20S cannons. This resulted in a slight increase in weight and a slight deterioration in the fighter's flight characteristics. The conversion of the Yak-3 into the Yak-3T took place at the Yakovlev Design Bureau from December 10, 1944, to January 8, 1945. Afterward, the aircraft was transferred to the factory for testing. The Yak-3T performed well during testing, though some defects were found. However, due to the war's end and the insufficient reliability of the Yak-3T engine unit, it never went into mass production.
The Yak-3T was introduced as a reward for the 2017 "Chronicles of World War II" event. The Yak-3T has characteristics very similar to those of its predecessor, the Yak-3. It has excellent maneuverability at low and medium altitudes and powerful armament, allowing it to confidently defeat opponents in head-on attacks. This combination of performance and armament makes the Yak-3T a formidable opponent in the sky. However, the fighter has also inherited some of the base model's shortcomings, such as a low maximum dive speed and small ammunition capacity.
