The Wellington Mk X featured Bristol Hercules XVIII engines instead of the Hercules III or XI found on the Mk III, slightly lowering its top speed; otherwise, it was similar to the Mk III. The Mk X was the most produced variant of the Wellington and also served as the base for numerous Coastal Command versions, which were adapted for anti-submarine or anti-shipping roles.
The Wellington Mk X has been in the game since the start of the Open Beta Test prior to Update 1.27. It features great manoeuvrability paired with a sizeable bomb load as well as a variety of ordnance, allowing multirole use such as anti-shipping with its two Mk. XII torpedoes or ground battles with the massive 4,000 lb H.C. Mk. II bomb. Unlike the Mk III, the Wellington Mk X features weaker engines, making it slightly slower than its predecessor. The bomb load and defensive armament remained unchanged. The Wellington is unable to outrun contemporary fighters, making it vulnerable to their attacks and requiring friendly fighter cover to increase survivability and allow successful bombing of objectives.
