The Voroshilov was one of the Kirov-class light cruisers, laid down in 1935 and launched in 1937. Voroshilov joined the Soviet Black Sea Fleet as the fleet flagship in 1940. During World War II, Voroshilov saw extensive combat action, assisting in attacks on Romanian oil facilities and shelling German forces in the Perekop region. Though damaged multiple times by enemy fire and air attacks, Voroshilov remained in service, earning the Order of the Red Banner for her actions. After the war, Voroshilov underwent several modernisation efforts before being decommissioned in 1973 and eventually scrapped.
Introduced during Update "Ixwa Strike" as a reward for Battle Pass: Season III, "Strength athletics", Voroshilov possesses a unique blend of heavy cruiser-like firepower and light cruiser-like mobility and survivability. Her nine 180 mm main guns pack a potent punch, capable of devastating enemy ships at medium-to-long ranges, though her relatively slow rate of fire means she must make each shot count. While she lacks thick armour, Voroshilov's large hull can soak up considerable damage. However, she remains vulnerable to high-explosive shells and aerial attacks. Voroshilov's potent anti-air armament, including 13 x 37 mm cannons, makes her an effective escort for friendly ships. Thus, Voroshilov offers a unique blend of capabilities, between her good speed and high firepower, allowing her to perform a variety of roles.
