Following the launch of the Pe-2 205 series, Soviet designers made various improvements to the aircraft to enhance its effectiveness. For instance, the 211 series was equipped with additional mounts for external bomb racks and new VISh-61P propellers. The Pe-2 249 series featured modified oil and fuel systems that increased engine power in the winter. The 265 series had a more powerful RSB-3bis radio station. The Pe-2 271 series featured fairings for external bomb racks to improve aerodynamics. The 301 series featured a redesigned radio operator's hatch. Finally, the Pe-2 359 series had individual engine cylinder exhaust pipes, minor engine modifications, and an improved oxygen system. Production of this series of aircraft began in the summer of 1944.
The Pe-2-359 was introduced before Open Beta testing. It is a fast and maneuverable dive bomber with extremely high Max Speed Limit. On the other hand, its main and defensive armament is weak, and the aircraft is quite large. It differs from the Pe-2-205 only in minor visual differences and its main opponents.
