The Aero L-39ZA/ART Albatros was a version of the L-39ZA with new Elbit electronics, built for the Royal Thai Air Force. Thailand placed an order for 36 aircraft in the early 1990s, and they were delivered by October 1993. By April 1997, an additional four aircraft had been delivered. The aircraft were operated by the 401st and 411th Squadrons, whose pilots trained for fighter and attacker missions, as well as search-and-rescue operations. The 401st Squadron's aircraft were replaced by KAI T-50THs in 2018. The 411th Squadron's L-39ZA/ARTs made their final flight on March 31, 2021.
The Thai L-39ZA/ART Albatros was introduced in Update 2.57 “Heavy Cavalry” as a part of the Japanese aviation research tree. It is a responsive aircraft with decent maneuverability and good suspended armament, but it has poor acceleration and a low overall flight speed.
