The Spyder AIO (Surface PYthon and DERby All In One) is a next-generation autonomous Surface-To-Air system from 2022 by Rafael. It is based on the multi-vehicle SPYDER missile system, combining the highly adaptable SPYDER missile system with an onboard search and track radar and also IRST system in order to provide reliability and fast reaction time to air threats. The system combines the advantages of an elevated radar mast, an advanced IRST system, and a vertical launch platform allowing for 360-degree launch without requiring a large and open area in order to achieve increased effectiveness against all types of air targets at distances up to 40km. While there are currently no confirmed operators of this system, it has been marketed to a wide variety of potential customers such as Greece, India, as well as Singapore.
The Spyder AIO was introduced in the Update “Leviathans”, featuring both long-range and short-range surface-to-air missiles, differentiating itself from systems like the IRIS-T SLM by having both the radar and launcher on the same vehicle. Due to its nature, the Spyder AIO has no protection whatsoever, being susceptible to light fragments and small arms fire, so its mobility is its primary advantage. The combination of being able to launch missiles as soon as the vehicle comes to a stop with only a small delay, when paired with its powerful radar, makes the Spyder AIO a master at sneak attacks, being able to easily relocate after each engagement while also allowing for early-game flanks to get around the enemy’s ground force and set up behind enemy lines where it is least expected.
