The Ilyushin IL-10 was a Soviet single-engine ground attack aircraft designed under the leadership of S.V. Ilyushin. It was an improvement on the legendary IL-2, addressing its main shortcoming of low maximum speed. The IL-10 first flew on April 18, 1944, and entered serial production in August of that year.
After World War II, the USSR significantly impacted the development of aviation in Hungary, a country under Soviet influence. From 1949 to 1952, the Hungarian People's Republic received approximately 160 IL-10s from both the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia. The latter were produced under license at the AVIA Motors plant as the B-33. These aircraft were all in service with the 23rd, 30th, and 59th assault aviation regiments until August 1956. According to modernization plans, they were then withdrawn from combat units and replaced with MiG-15 fighters.
The Hungarian IL-10 was introduced in Update 2.35 "Alpha Strike", as a part of the Italian aviation research tree. With its powerful armament and decent bomb load, this attack aircraft is ideal for mixed battles. However, it has a few drawbacks: its top speed and maneuverability are not exceptional compared to those of its main opponents, and its climb rate is low.
