The Tiger H1, also known as the Sd.Kfz. 181, was a heavy German tank of the Second World War. It is also one of the most famous and, above all, one of the most feared tanks ever built. More than 1,350 tanks were built by Henschel between 1942 and 1944. These were used on the Eastern Front, the Western Front, in Italy, and in Africa.
After the Allied invasion of Normandy, heavy armoured divisions were sent to France to stop the invasion, which were initially equipped with 126 Tiger H1 and E tanks, among other vehicles. Tiger crews mostly operated alone or in small groups with other troop types, setting ambushes for Allied troops to inflict maximum damage. They used local vegetation, buildings, and camouflage nets to achieve this. By mid-August 1944, they had destroyed more than 500 Allied tanks, but these losses made little difference due to the superiority of American industry, which quickly replaced them. During the Battle of Falaise in August 1944, a total of 105 Tiger I tanks were lost, leaving hardly any remaining on the Western Front at that time. Of the 105 destroyed Tigers, only 38 were destroyed by Allied action; the remaining tanks were abandoned or destroyed by their crews.
The Tiger West was introduced in Update 2.43 "Storm Warning". It possesses all the capabilities of a Tiger H1, differing only in appearance: with a powerful 88 mm KwK36 L/56 gun, and speed typical for a heavy tank. A disadvantage of the Tiger I is its frontal armour, which is easy to penetrate when unangled. Additional tracks on the turret and hull offer a small amount of additional protection. The Tiger West also has a camouflage net that completely covers it, making it difficult to spot in dense vegetation.
