L'Intrépide is a French patrol boat of the L'Adroit class. Launched on December 12, 1958, it entered service on July 29, 1959. Following World War II, the French fleet was left with severely outdated pre-war ships and various light boats received under Lend-Lease or reparations. However, the war demonstrated the importance of small patrol ships for escorting and defending the coast. A notable example is the British River-class frigates, which also served in the Free French Navy. In 1949, amid the height of the Cold War, there was a need for a modern ship that could perform similar tasks and work with other NATO countries. France was prioritized for the construction of anti-submarine boats and escort ships.
When designing a new type of patrol boat, the French drew significant inspiration from American submarine hunters, particularly the PC-461 class. The result was a 400-ton boat capable of mounting torpedoes or anti-submarine weapons. L'Intrépide remained in service until February 23, 1979, and was sunk as a target in 1983.
L'Intrépide was introduced in Update 2.49 "Tusk Force". This boat stands out due to its powerful 40mm autocannon and large number of torpedoes. However, its single gun mount is easily knocked out, and the boat is extremely slow.
