In the early 1970s, the Hellenic Air Force began searching for a replacement for its F-84F Thunderstreak fighter jets. The A-7 caught their attention thanks to its good combat radius and strike capabilities, as well as its relatively low purchase price and simple maintenance. Between 1975 and 1980, Greece acquired 60 A-7H aircraft, a variant of the A-7E without an aerial refueling system. Greek pilots valued the aircraft for its simplicity and flight performance. However, Greek A-7Hs never saw combat, and seven aircraft were lost in non-combat incidents. The aircraft was retired in 2007.

The Greek A-7H was introduced in Update 2.59 "Sky Odyssey", as part of the Israeli aviation research tree. It is the least capable of its counterparts due to its lack of guided air-to-surface weapons. The A-7H excels in neither the fighter nor the strike role. In the former role, it lacks engine power and top speed, and in the latter role, it lacks the ability to engage targets outside the effective range of enemy air defenses.
