The R-130-class, R-130 is a rank II German minesweeper with a battle rating of 1.7 (AB/SB) and 2.0 (RB). It was introduced in Update 1.79 "Project X" as part of the fleet closed beta test.

General info

Survivability and armour

The R-130 is constructed using wood, the superstructure is hardened wood constructed to a thickness of 12mm. The wooden construction of the R-130 means fire is one of the biggest threats to survival of the ship, the hull will not absorb so much damage. There is no armour on the ship. The R-130 has a crew placement of 41, which provides a great attachment of sailors, which helps to increases the overall survivability of the R-130 dramatically compared to other ships in this tier.

Compared to the previous version R-boot R-41 which only offered two single 2 cm/65 C/30 (20mm) automatic cannons. The R-130 has increased it armament with the addition of a single 3,7 cm FlaK-Lafette C/36 (37mm) automatic cannon. This substantially increases the firepower, by allowing for heavy and harder hitting rounds. It also provides an additional benefit that it helps to increase the survivability of this vessel.

However, the internal components of the R-130 are spaced out, meaning a good volley of enemy fire will not completely incapacitate the ship.

  • The engine is placed, under the conning tower of the ship, with the transmission extending towards the stern (Rear) to the Voith Schneider propulsion system.
  • The transmission is under the waterline which protects it from most enemy rounds, which would penetrate the ship.
  • The Voith Schneider propulsion system can be destroyed by enemy fire since it extends above the waterline.
  • The ships fuel and ammunition storage can be penetrated by enemy fire, since these are located above the waterline.

Mobility

The R-130 may seem slow, In comparison to other naval ships at this tier, due to it's length. However it is equipped with a Voith Schneider propulsion system, which makes up for the slow top speed. The Voith Schneider propulsion system, empowers the R-130 with a top speed of 50 KM/H in arcade. In realistic and simulator modes, it has a top speed of 37 KM/H, which is still respectfully fast, for a naval ship. Unlike other ships which uses a conventional propeller & rudder system, the Voith Schneider propulsion system provides incredible manoeuvrability, allowing incoming enemy fire and torpedoes to be dodged, just before they are about to impact the ship, without delay, whilst keeping the top speed almost the same.

Armament

Primary armament

Main article: 2 cm/65 C/30 (20 mm)

The two cm/65 C/30 (20 mm) automatic cannons are equipped with a 40 round magazine. To best utilise the cannon in a naval battle environment, ideally use universal or the APT magazine choice. These provide the most stopping power in a ship to ship encounter. When operating the cannons, aim in front of the enemy ship, and adjust the fire by watching the tracer rounds hit the target. Locate the key areas which are important for the rival ship to survive and target those i.e. Bridge, Engine room, Ammunition storage areas.

The cm/65 C/30 (20 mm) automatic cannons work very well in a close and medium range engagement. However, at a long distance engagement, they are not as effective as other types of guns or cannons.

When engaging enemy aircraft, the cm/65 C/30 (20 mm) automatic cannons are able to a deliver catastrophic blow to any enemy aircraft, which may decide you attack. The hitting power from these rounds, make this one of the most powerful anti-air deterrence in the game. With a few well placed shots, Aim for the wing spars and engines the enemy aircraft will soon be destroyed.

The magazine (ammo) choices are:

  • Universal
  • HET
  • APT

These require a 4 to 5.2 second reload time to replace a used magazine with a new one. To get the stupendous 4 second reload time, the crew requires an ace qualification, with crew skills to be fully achieved in the main calibre reload speed field.

Secondary armament

Some ships are fitted with weapons of various calibres. Secondary armament is defined by the weapon chosen with the control Select secondary weapon. Evaluate the secondary armament and give advice on how to use them. Describe the ammunition available for the secondary armament. Provide recommendations on how to use them and which ammunition to choose. Remember that anti-air armament, even heavy calibre weapons, belong in the next section.

Special armament

Main article: WBF depth charge

Depth charges, mines, rocket launchers and missiles are also effective in skilled hands and can be an unexpected surprise for an opponent. Evaluate the ammunition of this type of armament and rate its performance in combat.

Usage in battles

Describe the technique of using this ship, the characteristics of her use in a team and tips on strategy. Abstain from writing an entire guide – don’t get try to provide a single point of view, but give the reader food for thought. Talk about the most dangerous opponents for this vehicle and provide recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of playing with this vehicle in various modes (AB, RB, SB).

Pros and cons

Summarize and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - they have a substitution in the form of softer "inadequate", "effective".

History

Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the ship in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too big, take it to a separate article, taking a link to an article about the vehicle and adding a block "/ History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article.

Media

An excellent addition to the article will be video guides, as well as screenshots from the game and photos.
