The S-701 was one of the last series of German Schnellboot-type torpedo boats. Built at the Danziger Waggonfabrik shipyard in Danzig, it was launched in 1944 and entered service on July 3 of that year. Compared to the S-100, the late-series boats had two additional torpedo tubes for firing towards the stern while retreating. The artillery armament was also modified closer to the end of the war. On January 23, 1945, the S-701 was seriously damaged in a collision with the torpedo boat S-199. It was then towed to Wilhelmshaven. In May 1945, the S-701 was transferred to the United States as reparations. In 1951, it was sold in Amsterdam and converted into the motor yacht Vrijbuiter.
The S-701 was introduced as one of the rewards for the Battle Pass: Season XI, "Her Majesty's Hussar". It has powerful torpedo and artillery armaments, as well as good mobility, but its all-wooden hull gives it low survivability, and its rear-facing torpedoes are rarely useful.
