Feedback on the armament and engine of the Bf 109 B led to the development of a new modification, the Bf 109 C-1. The aircraft's armament was strengthened by the installation of two additional machine guns in the wing roots, while the engine was replaced by a more powerful Jumo 210G with direct fuel injection, which allowed it to work under negative overloads. The exhaust system was also redesigned to reduce wear. The C-1 was quickly followed by the C-2, which included the installation of a 20 mm cannon. Only 58 aircraft were built in 1938, 20 of which were used in the Spanish Civil War.
The Bf 109 C-1 was introduced in the Update "Alpha Strike". As an early monoplane, this Bf 109 has many weaknesses: its engine is rather underpowered, and, being a monoplane, it cannot dogfight against biplanes. Its armament consists only of four 7.92 mm machine guns, which is not enough to take down bombers effectively. On the other hand, the Bf 109 has a high top speed and decent survivability.
