#gamemode
War Thunder has a number of multiplayer and singleplayer game modes, so there's something to suit everyone. The three main PvP game modes are Arcade Battles, Realistic Battles, and Simulator Battles. There also exists some PvE modes, namely Assault Mode and Helicopter Battles, as well as special event formats such as Racing and Tank Football, and singleplayer Story and Dynamic Missions.
Assault Mode is a cooperative game mode for aircraft, ground vehicles and helicopters where players fight against the AI. The main objective is to defend the base from several waves of enemies. Team can consist of up to 10 players. This game mode uses the damage and flight models, and other mechanics, from Arcade Battles (including rearming in flight). There is no limit for how many times players can spawn the same vehicle, so it is possible to bring only one.
Enduring Confrontation (also known as "EC") is a separate game mode for aircraft in War Thunder. Unlike in traditional random battles, this mode allows you to join a battle at any time. You also have unlimited respawns, subject to certain rules. In EC, the emphasis is on the players’ ability to influence the situation on the battlefield.
Arcade is the most simplified game mode, but also typically the easiest to learn and the most fast-paced. Vehicle control is easier than in other modes, vehicles often have boosted mobility and weapons targeting characteristics, and each vehicle type has a special mechanisms to assist with aiming. Team composition is not restricted by vehicle nation, meaning that each team can have any combination of vehicles with suitable battle ratings, including the same vehicles as the opposing team.
