"Hanomag" is the Soviet nickname given to the German armored personnel carrier Sd.Kfz.251, based on the name of its manufacturer. The vehicle was initially intended to transport personnel on the battlefield under the cover of armor. However, the Sd.Kfz.251 was later modified to perform a wide range of combat tasks.
The Sd.Kfz.251/21 is an anti-aircraft variant of the Sd.Kfz.251. Its distinguishing feature is the turret containing three 20 mm MG 151/20 autocannons mounted on the vehicle's hull. Due to the large-scale production of this armored personnel carrier — with more than 15,000 vehicles of various modifications produced — some became trophies of the Soviet and Allied armies.
The Hanomag ('45) was introduced in Update 2.47 "Leviathans". This armored personnel carrier is a trophy vehicle painted with red stars and quick-recognition stripes, which were typical of Soviet armored vehicles during the Berlin operation. Its main advantage is its armament: three 20mm autocannons provide sufficient firepower to shoot down any aircraft. The Hanomag also has good off road mobility. Its disadvantages are its weak armor, open fighting compartment, and long reload time.
