The Object 416 was an experimental Soviet light tank that was later reclassified as an SPG. As early as 1944, the designers at Kharkov Plant No. 75 conducted their first experiments on creating a tank with a rear-mounted turret based on the T-44. In 1950, they revisited the idea with a new design, intending to use a rear-mounted turret to reduce the vehicle's profile while maintaining armor protection. This time, the vehicle was designed to be a light tank. The first prototype of the vehicle was ready in 1951, around the same time that it was redesignated the SU-100M self-propelled gun. Testing began in 1952, revealing several issues: the driver's placement in the turret caused significant driving problems, and the crew compartment was cramped even by soviet standards. Furthermore, the Soviet military believed that the tank offered no particular combat advantages over the SU-100P. In 1953, the project was canceled. The sole prototype of the Object 416 is on display at the Armored Vehicle Museum in Kubinka.
The Object 416 was introduced in Update 2.59 "Sky Odyssey". It is an extremely low tank destroyer with powerful armament and the unusual feature of housing the entire crew in the turret. However, the tank also has significant drawbacks due to it's design: a long reload time, low survivability, and awful gun elevation angles.
