The 105mm Gun Tank T54E2 is the third prototype of the promising American medium tank, the T54. The concept for its development was initiated following a recommendation by the Army on weapons development in December 1950. It suggested the development and integration of a new 105mm gun onto a tank. The project officially began on July 6, 1951. First, the T54 and T54E1 were created using different methods to install the T140 gun. The final variant of the tank in the program was the T54E2. It was developed based on the M48 Patton chassis, and its main difference from previous models was its classic turret design without an automatic loader. However, due to numerous shortcomings, the T54 project was discontinued in 1957 to focus on developing the new T95 medium tank. Various technological advancements made it obsolete and unsuitable for the new requirements.
The T54E2 was introduced in Update 2.31 "Kings of Battle". In the game, the vehicle's playstyle is similar to that of the M60: its decent armor and mediocre mobility, coupled with a powerful 105 mm gun, allow it to support its allies in both offense and defense. However, the T54E2's reload speed is significantly slower than that of tanks equipped with the widely used L7 gun, so it should avoid close-range engagements. It differs from the T54E1 in that it lacks an automatic loader and has a different turret.
