The Huckins 78ft PT-262 was the eighth boat of the ten PT-255-class PT boats. The PT-255 class was an improved design over the previous PT-95 class, with the main differences being the redesigned bridge position and the standardised armament of a 37 mm AN-M4 cannon at the bow and a 40 mm Bofors autocannon at the stern. As for the PT-262, it was laid down at the Huckins Yacht shipyard on 27 February 1943, launched on 5 June, and entered service on 7 July that year. PT-262 was assigned to PT Squadron 26, which patrolled around the Hawaiian Sea. It saw no action during its two-year service before being decommissioned on 3 December 1945 and sold into private hands on 2 October 1946, with its final fate unknown.
The PT-262 was introduced in Update "Spearhead". The PT-262 is roughly equivalent to its Elco and Higgins counterparts in the tech tree, the PT-314 and PT-71 respectively, with similar armaments consisting of a single 37 mm and 40 mm gun at the bow and stern, a pair of dual-mounted Browning MGs around the bridge, and a set of four torpedoes. As with the other PT boats, the PT-262 is quite mobile and packs significant firepower, especially towards the stern. However, due to its wooden construction and relatively high freeboard, the PT-262 is very vulnerable to return fire, particularly from the sides.
