The T-34 was a Soviet medium tank. It was used by Soviet forces during the Great Patriotic War, including in battles against the Finnish army. During the fighting, the Finns captured a number of these tanks in working condition. For instance, on October 2, 1941, the Finns captured the first T-34 near the Lower Svir Hydroelectric Station. The day before, the 3rd Marine Brigade and the 46th Tank Brigade of the Red Army launched an offense that was repelled. The Soviet side lost five tanks in total, one of which was a T-34 that got stuck on tree stumps. Overall, the Finns captured four T-34s armed with 76-mm guns during the war and received three more from Germany. Since Finland was not a wealthy country and lacked its own tank industry, the Finns treated all armored vehicles with great care, actively deploying the tanks against Soviet forces during the Great Patriotic War. After the war, the remaining T-34s, including the 85 mm variant, formed the backbone of the Finnish Defense Forces' armored units, remaining the most modern vehicles in the Finnish military until the late 1950s.
The Finnish T-34 was introduced in Update 2.21 "Fire and Ice" as a part of the Swedish ground research tree. Like the Soviet original, the vehicle boasts good mobility and cross-country capability. It also has APHEBC rounds with decent penetration and good post-penetration effect. Moreover, it has decent armor. Its only drawbacks are the limited downward elevation of the gun, a trait typical of Soviet tank design, and the relatively cramped positioning of the crew inside the hull.
