After the end of World War II, a large number of surplus Curtiss-Wright SB2C-5 Helldivers were sold to various allied countries of the United States. Among these were twelve aircraft that were sold to Thailand and divided between the Royal Thai Navy and Royal Thai Air Force. The Thai Helldivers saw service during the 1950s communist insurgency in northern Thailand. One example of the RTAF's SB2C-5 is preserved and is on display at the Royal Thai Air Force Museum in Bangkok.
Introduced during Update "Storm Warning" as a reward for Battle Pass: Season XVIII, "The Last Legionaire", the RTAF's SB2C-5 Helldiver is analogous to the Japanese B7A2 dive bomber, albeit leaning more towards the characteristics of traditional dive bombers. The Thai Helldiver has rather limited mobility, especially when laden with payload; however, it is capable of carrying twice the payload of the Ryusei, including a large 2,000 lb bomb. It also has access to gunpods with four .50 Browning machine guns, which when combined with its air spawn, allow the Helldiver to be used as a bomber hunter when needed.
