The LaGG-3-8 was a modification of the LaGG-3, a Soviet single-engine fighter created by the OKB-301 design team (S. Lavochkin, V. Gorbunov, and M. Gudkov). Over time, the fighter underwent many changes. Beginning with the eighth series, the aircraft were not equipped with 7.62 mm ShKAS machine guns. While this meant the LaGG lost its armament advantage over the Yak-1, the fighter's weight decreased without a significant loss of firepower. The LaGG-3 was used by the Soviet Air Force during World War II and in combat operations against Japan in 1945. A total of 6,528 LaGG-3s were built, including up to 400 eighth-series aircraft.
The LaGG-3-8 was introduced in Update 1.33. Like other LaGG-3 aircraft, it has powerful armament and decent speed but lacks climb rate and maneuverability. Due to these characteristics, dogfights present a significant challenge to inaccurate players: the absence of ShKAS machine guns, present on fourth series aircraft, and the limited number of ShVAK and UBS shells mean guns must be used sparingly.
