The LaGG-3-23 was a modification of the LaGG-3, a Soviet single-engine fighter designed by the OKB-301 design team (S. Lavochkin, V. Gorbunov, and M. Gudkov). The tail design of the 23 series aircraft was slightly modified compared to the 11 series. These fighters were produced from winter to spring of 1942. The LaGG-3 was used extensively by the Soviet Air Force during World War II and was deployed in combat operations against Japan in 1945. A total of 6,528 LaGG-3s were built, including approximately 700 11th and 23rd series aircraft.
The LaGG-3-23 has been in the game since the start of the Open Beta Test prior to Update 1.27. Like all LaGG-3 fighters, the aircraft has powerful weapons and decent speed. The presence of suspended weapons allows it to fight ground vehicles; however, destroying heavily armored vehicles requires great accuracy. Despite its superior flight characteristics compared to 11 series aircraft, the LaGG-3-23 struggles in dogfights due to its inferior maneuverability compared to many enemy aircraft.
