The YMS-1-class, JDS Ujishima (MSC-655) (うじしま), formerly USS Condor (YMS-192), was a US-built minesweeper launched in 1942. She served in the Battle of the Atlantic during World War II, before conducting occupation and minesweeping duties around Japan after the war. Placed in reserve, she was recommissioned during the Korean War before being loaned to Japan in 1955 under the Mutual Defense Assistance Program to help rebuild the country's maritime self-defence capability. Serving with the JMSDF for roughly eleven years, Ujishima was returned to the US Navy in 1967, struck from the Naval Vessel Register on 31 March, and expended as a target the following year.
Introduced in Update 2.57 "Heavy Cavalry", JDS Ujishima is, like many auxiliary vessels, not intended for frontline combat but is nevertheless capable of holding her own. Her relatively large displacement allows her to absorb considerable damage, while her modest armament remains effective thanks to a versatile dual-purpose 3-inch (76 mm) Mk. 22 gun and two single-mounted 20 mm/70 Oerlikon autocannons.
