The Harimau, also known as the Modern Medium Weight Tank (MMWT), is a light tank jointly developed by Indonesia and Turkey. Development began in May 2015 to provide the Indonesian Army with a modern, highly mobile armoured vehicle to replace its ageing AMX-13s. The first prototype was built in Turkey and unveiled at the 2016 Indo Defence Expo, featuring the Belgian-made Cockerill 3105 modular turret. Production of the hull began in February 2020 under FNSS, with the production version (known as Harimau/Kaplan) revealed in 2021. One prototype underwent various trials, including live-fire and blast-resistance tests. The first 10 MMWT hulls were delivered to Indonesia, with two fitted with Cockerill 3105 turrets, and the next eight were produced locally. A total of 18 vehicles have entered service, with plans for over 400 more vehicles to be produced locally by Pindad.
The Harimau was introduced in Update 2.59 "Sky Odyssey". Its main strength is its powerful 105 mm cannon, capable of firing DM63 APFSDS rounds, allowing it to penetrate the frontal armour of some main battle tanks. However, its thin armour offers little protection, with even 20 mm autocannons posing a threat from certain angles. The Harimau compensates for this with excellent mobility, reaching approximately 70 km/h and a reverse speed of roughly half its forward speed. It is also equipped with third-generation thermal imaging for both the gunner and commander.
