The Namer Tsrikhon is a modification of the Israeli Namer heavy armoured personnel carrier, originally based on the Merkava Mk. IV tank chassis. Development of the Namer began in the 2000s as a replacement for the aging M113, which was vulnerable to modern anti-tank weapons. After the first vehicles were introduced as heavy APCs, the Israel Defense Forces took steps to expand their capabilities.
Modernisation included the addition of an unmanned turret, the Tsrikhon, with a 30mm automatic cannon and the Trophy Active Protection System. This upgrade transformed the Namer from a heavy APC into a full-fledged infantry fighting vehicle capable of providing independent fire support. The presentation of the new modification took place in 2017, which became a logical continuation of the development of Israeli heavy platforms based on the Merkava chassis. From 2024, the Namer with the unmanned turret will continue to be tested and will gradually enter service with the IDF.
Introduced in Update "Storm Warning", the Namer Tsrikhon is an improved version of the preceding Namer 30. The main difference is the upgraded unmanned turret with the Trophy APS installed, as well as an increased ammunition load for the rapid-fire 30 mm Bushmaster autocannon and additional smoke grenades. The vehicle also retains a pair of Spike-LR2 anti-tank guided missile launchers, allowing it to engage armoured targets at ranges of up to 4 km. However, the Namer Tsrikhon's drawbacks remain its less-than-stellar mobility and limited ATGM ammunition load.
