Following the conclusion of Operation Protective Edge (Known as Tzok Eitan in Hebrew) in 2014, the Israeli military decided to replace its aging M113 armored personnel carriers once again. Unlike the heavy Namer and similar vehicles, the plan this time was to develop a relatively lightweight, wheeled vehicle. Mantak took on the project and presented the first prototype of the Eitan AFV, named after the aforementioned operation, in 2016. The IFV version was first demonstrated in October 2019. It was equipped with a 30mm Bushmaster II cannon, a Spike missile launcher, and an Iron Fist guided missile system. In 2022, serial production of the Eitan AFV begun, while the heavy IFV variant of the vehicle remained a single prototype. AFV Eitans made their combat debut during the fighting during Zikim attack from October 7 to 11, 2023.
The Eitan (P) was introduced in Update 2.55 "Ninth Wave". It is a massive, somewhat fast IFV with decent armor for its class. The sides are protected by the ERA and the front by thin sheets of composite armor. Additionally, the vehicle is protected by the Iron Fist active protection system, which is capable of intercepting most ATGMs and HEAT rounds. Its armament consists of a 30mm cannon and a Spike ATGM, allowing it to engage both light and heavy targets. However, the Eitan’s crew is positioned tightly in the front, the turret is awkwardly located in the rear, and the armor obviously falls short of that of many main battle tanks.
