The Wiesel 1A2 is a German light airborne vehicle. In the early 1970s, development began on a new air-transportable tracked vehicle for the Bundeswehr to replace the Kraka. During this period, the vehicle's basic design and initial armament options were made, including a 20mm automatic cannon or HOT anti-tank guided missiles. Later, versions armed with the TOW missile appeared, and around 20 different variants were planned in total. The German Armed Forces ordered two large production batches of the vehicle: one armed with a 20mm cannon and the other with TOW anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs). Deliveries to troops began in 1990, and the Wiesel soon saw its first combat use in Somalia. Later, NATO forces employed the vehicles in Kosovo and Afghanistan.
The Wiesel 1A2 was introduced in Update 2.11 "Ground Breaking". In combat, it stands out due to its launcher, which carries tandem-warhead missiles or ATGMs with a top-attack profile. Additionally, its compact dimensions and low profile allow it to hide behind small covers, exposing only the launcher to the enemy.
