Parchim is a corvette of the namesake class, also known as Project 133.1. The development of the Parchim-class ships began in the late 1970s with the intention of replacing the outdated HAI III-class submarine hunters. Due to their design, the HAI III-class ships were restricted to coastal waters. Zelenodolsk Shipyard designers created the ships based on Grisha-class corvettes. The resulting ships relied entirely on Soviet weapons and electronics. They were built in two versions: the more advanced Project 1331M for the Soviet Navy, with electronics and radars that were forbidden for export, and Project 133.1 for Warsaw Pact countries. Currently, a significant number of Parchim-class ships are in service with the Russian and Indonesian navies.
Parchim was laid down on January 9, 1979; launched on October 9; and commissioned into the Volksmarine on April 9, 1981. It served unremarkably there until Indonesia purchased it in 1994. It was renamed KRI Sutedi Senoputra and underwent a series of upgrades as part of its navy. It remains in service to this day.
Parchim was introduced in Update 2.53 "Line of Contact". It has powerful weapons for fighting aircraft and ships, and it has a large enough crew for a coastal ship. Its radar is also a welcome feature. However, the main calibre guns may not be sufficient for combating armoured targets; in that case, the ship will have to rely on its weak torpedoes.
