The Bernau (343) was an East German Navy Project 89.2 minesweeper. Ships of this project were known for their excellent seaworthiness, enabling them to operate with deep-sea and ocean fleets. They were primarily assigned to the East German border guard. Bernau was laid down on March 28, 1972; launched on August 3, 1972; and commissioned on December 1, 1972. During its service, it performed patrol and border guard duties. Following the German reunification on October 3, 1990, the Bernau was incorporated into the German Navy and given the hull number M2673 in January 1991. On April 22, 1991, it was decommissioned and transferred to Uruguay. There, it entered service as the patrol ship Fortuna (ROU 33) and served until 2014.
The Bernau was introduced in Update 2.37 "Seek & Destroy". It boasts decent survivability, powerful automatic weapons, and the Strela-2M air defense missile system. One of the ship's shortcomings is its low speed.
