The M-802 was a German M-class minesweeper from the 1943 series. The M-1943 class ships were an improvement on the M-1940 class, featuring slightly increased displacement. To speed up construction, the minesweepers were not built from scratch at a single shipyard. Instead, they were divided into large sections that were manufactured at various enterprises and delivered to the shipyard only for final assembly. In 1943, the Kriegsmarine ordered 160 M1943-type ships, but only 17 were commissioned before the war ended.
The M-802 was launched on September 29, 1944, and entered service on January 4, 1945. Its service was unremarkable; the minesweeper did not participate in any significant operations nor distinguish itself. These ships' main occupation was minesweeping and mine laying, but they could also be equipped with depth charges and used as submarine hunters, patrol ships, or escorts. Some were equipped with torpedo tubes for training purposes. The M-802 was sunk during an Allied air raid on Kiel in April 1945.
The M-802 was introduced in Update 1.83 "Masters of the Sea". While the minesweeper is not particularly mobile, it is distinguished by its diverse and numerous armaments, large crew, and fairly good armor. These features sometimes allow it to survive several open engagements, but only against ships of its own class or smaller ones.
