The Fw 189 C was a German attack aircraft created during World War II. As the Luftwaffe's demand for ground-attack aircraft increased, Focke-Wulf converted its Fw 189 A reconnaissance aircraft into an armored attacker to compete with the Hs 129. To accomplish this, the Fw 189 was outfitted with an armored cockpit for the pilot and rear gunner instead of the original fuselage. Two prototypes, the Fw 189 V1b and V6, were converted in the early 1940s and soon underwent comparative tests against the Hs 129, in which they were outperformed. This was partially due to the extremely narrow and uncomfortable cockpit for the pilot and gunner. The project was canceled, but three Fw 189 C-0 aircraft were built by May 1941 while testing was still underway.
The Fw 189 C was introduced in Update 2.57 "Heavy Cavalry". It is a maneuverable aircraft with decent armament. However, the reinforced armor increased its weight, which worsened its maneuverability and speed compared to its predecessor, the Fw 189 A.
