The GIAT VEXTRA is a prototype wheeled armored vehicle developed by GIAT in the 1990s. Its design incorporated solutions from previous vehicles of this class, most notably the AMX-10RC. The Vextra was intended to serve as a reconnaissance vehicle or fire support platform and was designed for both domestic and export markets. Technologically advanced for its time, the vehicle featured the FINDERS (Fast Information, Navigation, Decision, and Reporting System) system, similar to that on the Leclerc tank, as well as a TML 105 turret equipped with a CN-105 G2 105mm gun previously mounted on the AMX-10RC. The prototype was built in 1994 and presented at Eurosatory that same year. It underwent extensive testing in France until 1997 and then in Saudi Arabia for one year. In 2000, a specially designed turret with a 120mm 120 FER gun, essentially a copy of the CN120-26 used on the Leclerc tank but with upgraded recoil mechanisms and a muzzle brake, was installed on the Vextra chassis. Additionally, at the UAE's request, a concept featuring a BMP-3 turret on the Vextra chassis was developed. Various potential buyers showed interest in the vehicle until the late 2000s when it became clear that GIAT would not find customers for the project. In 2016, the prototype was returned to France and placed in the Musée des Blindés in Saumur.
The Vextra 105 was introduced in Update 2.37 "Seek & Destroy" in a variant with the TML 105 turret. It features extremely high mobility and a thermal sight, but it has low protection and carries limited amount of ammunition.
