The Le Corse (F761) was a frigate in the French Navy and the lead ship of its class, also known as the E50 class. She was laid down in March 1952, launched on August 8, 1952, and commissioned on April 23, 1955. Designed as a fast anti-submarine escort vessels, the Le Corse class ships were armed with three twin 57 mm guns, two single 20 mm Erlikon guns, four triple 550 mm torpedo tubes, a 375 mm anti-submarine missile launcher from Bofors, and bomb launchers.
The Le Corse first served in the Mediterranean Fleet as a submarine hunter and then transitioned to the role of an escort ship. In 1965, she was placed in reserve with the Atlantic Fleet and based in Brest. She was decommissioned in 1975 and sunk as a target ship in 1976.
The Le Corse was introduced in Update 2.53 "Line of Contact". Unlike its sister ship, the Le Brestois, it lacks a 100 mm gun. Otherwise, the frigate stands out in its armament. However, its 57 mm guns only have HE shells. Moreover, although it has a large number of torpedoes, each one carries only 200 kg of TNT. This is sufficient to counter light destroyers but insufficient against leaders or light cruisers.
