Laid down in November 1934 at Ateliers & Chantiers de Saint-Nazaire and launched in December 1936, Strasbourg was commissioned into the French Atlantic Fleet in April 1939, joining her sister in forming the First Battle Division. In the early years of the Second World War, she was part of the Force de Raid and, during the battle at Mers-el-Kébir in July 1940, she withstood a heavy British attack and evaded incoming fire from the British fleet, narrowly escaping back to continental France with only splinter damage. Later, serving as the flagship of the Forces de Haute Mer under the Vichy regime, she underwent major upgrades, including improvements to her anti-aircraft armament and the installation of radar, before her crew decided to scuttle her at Toulon on 27 November 1942 to avoid German capture. Later in the war, Italian salvage teams refloated her in 1943, but after further examination, she was deemed irreparable, and her floating wreck was sunk by American bombers in August 1944. What remained of her was scrapped in 1955.
Introduced during Update "Storm Warning" in the Raider Hunter event, Strasbourg is a clear upgrade to the Dunkerque, offering added radar and a slight improvement to the armour of the bow magazines. Much like her tech-tree counterpart, her main feature are two quadruple guns that are extremely dangerous against vessels in her BR or lower. Where she struggles the most is in fighting against vessels from the top rank, which can penetrate her directly into the magazines, while she is unable to provide an adequate response. She has relatively modern secondaries, limited only by the lack of AP and HE-VT shells, underwhelming anti-air armament, and in combat she can make use of her hydroplane for capturing points or setting smoke screens. Overall, she is an interesting but challenging vessel to play, with her combat performance being highly dependent on the enemies she encounters.
