The F-16A Block 10 Netz (Mod) is an Israeli-operated variant of the American F-16A Block 10, representing Netz “124” that was part of the IAF’s aggressor 115 Squadron. The 115th is also known as the "Flying Dragons" and is modelled from the USAF’s aggressor squadrons, simulating fictional engagements with an opposing force. However, the 115th was not the sole operator of the Netz, and the Netz was also operated by the IAF’s 140 Squadron (Golden Eagle) which notably carried out Operation Opera, an airstrike on an unfinished Iraqi nuclear reactor in 1981. Most F-16A Netz aircraft in IAF service were replaced by later F-16C/D aircraft, and the 140th now operates the cutting-edge F-35I Adir.
The Netz (Mod) was introduced in Update “Hornet’s Sting” as a premium pack version of the regular Netz in the tech tree. While it shares many characteristics with its tech tree counterpart, the Netz (Mod) offers notable improvements, including an increased number of countermeasures (180 compared to 60) and the capability to use GBU-31 JDAMs. In terms of flight performance, the Netz (Mod) has exceptional agility, speed, and rate-fighting capability, being able to easily outperform most opponents in dogfights like the rest of the F-16As. The Netz (Mod) also can access the potent Python 3 missile in addition to the regular AIM-9L, giving it an advantage over its American counterparts in terms of air-to-air armament. The Netz (Mod) excels at close-quarter brawling and dogfights, where it can utilize its great flight performance and six Python 3 missiles to great effect. However, the Netz (Mod)’s medium to long range attack capabilities are limited due to its inability to use radar missiles, a trait shared by all F-16A Block 10s.
