The CS/SA5 (Type 625E) is a Chinese self-propelled, short-range, anti-aircraft missile and gun system. The PLB625, which is mounted on the CS/SA5, was developed by NORINCO to provide the PLA with close-range air defence vehicle for ground forces against various air threats, such as low-flying aircraft, helicopters and UAVs. The Chinese army version of the system consists of a 25 mm automatic cannon with a rotating barrel block and four FN-6A anti-aircraft missiles, while the export version features a 30 mm cannon with either FN-16 or FB-10A missiles.
The combat module can be mounted on various platforms, including standard 8x8 wheeled armoured personnel carriers, specialised 6x6 chassis and ZBD04 infantry fighting vehicle chassis. The CS/SA5 is based on a modified version of the ZBL-08 (Type 08) armoured vehicle with an 8x8 wheel configuration. The chassis has a front-mounted engine and the control compartment is located next to the engine compartment. The combat module is installed in the central part of the hull and the rear houses the combat compartment with operator workstations. The Type 625E was first unveiled to the public at the Zhuhai Air Show in 2016 and was accepted into service in 2022.
The CS/SA5 was introduced in Update 2.47 "Leviathans". The Chinese SPAA can focus purely on destroying aerial targets, taking an advantageous observation position and putting ammunition boxes, or as a second line support vehicle, providing allies with cover from an automatic cannon and repelling air attacks. When using the CS/SA5, it is important to take into account its limited ammunition, weak armour and a big size.
