The Fairchild Republic A-10C Thunderbolt II is a modification of the American A-10A attack aircraft. In 2005, all existing A-10s began receiving the Precision Engagement Modification (PEM), which included an improved fire control system, upgraded cockpit displays, AGM-65G/L Maverick air-to-ground guided missiles, the ability to carry GBU-10/12 Paveway II laser-guided bombs, integration with the LITENING II targeting pod, and JDAM guided bombs. By 2011, approximately 350 aircraft had been upgraded, about 280 of which remain in service with the US Air Force as of 2022.
Introduced in Update "Dance of the Dragons", the A-10C not only retains all the advantages of the previous A-10 but also gains many new features: a helmet-mounted cueing system, the LITENING II targeting pod for guiding Paveway laser-guided bombs, new satellite-guided JDAM bombs that can be used even in bad weather but cannot lock on to moving targets, and new AGM-65G/L missiles with high-explosive warheads. To engage air targets, the aircraft now carries AIM-9M air-to-air missiles. However, the fighter has a low top speed and is generally slow, which is its biggest drawback.
