DEV-server is a special version of the game, used for testing major updates, mechanics and content before they get available for all the players on the main server.
How do download and install dev server
For PC users:
- Download the Dev Server launcher;
- Install it in a folder separate to main War Thunder client;
- Start the launcher to download files for the Dev version.
Alternative method, also suitable for Linux and MacOS users:
- Copy the game folder;
- In this copied folder create an empty file called
matchingdevmode; - Edit the
config.blkfile by adding the yunetwork section with the following lines:

}- Start the launcher to download files for the Dev version.
Dev server features
Attention! The Dev server is only open during certain times, please check the forum news for recent announcements.
The Dev server may shut down at any time for technical reasons, so take advantage of the opportunity to play on it while you can.
The test server uses a copy of player's account, created shortly before the opening of the Dev server. So any progress or unlocks you make on the Dev server will not be reflected back to the live server - It is purely a test environment. This also applies to any GE, silver lion or research point spending on the Dev server - it will not be subtracted from your live server account.
However, store items purchased through the test server, including Golden Eagles, are credited to the main server account.
Test server has the following special settings:
- x5 bonus to Research Points and Silver Lion earnings;
- All vehicles cost half the price;
- Experience conversion for Golden Eagles costs half as much (Golden Eagles will not be spent in the main server).
